An Overcast Maternity Session at White Rock Beach - Wailea

I always hope, burn a little sage, and send prayers for the best weather on days with photo sessions. Despite my best efforts, we don’t always get clear skies and sun-kissed waters - and that’s ok! This session is a perfect example of an evening where it was a bit rainy, and we decided to make a go of it. The rain stopped for just about the hour it took for us to complete this intimate maternity session, and it turned out so beautifully. Due to the weather, we had the beach to ourselves, which made this session especially fun and laid-back.

I always look to the client regarding rescheduling due to the weather. Since many clients are on vacation and time is limited, I always recommend giving the original morning or evening a try first. If it gets rained out, we can always reschedule for another day (or make use of the clear umbrella I bring in case of rain!) I always aim to make the best use of your limited time here in Hawaii.

Photography Sessions at White Rock Beach in Wailea

White Rock Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Wailea for a number of reasons. Some of the beach features include:

  • Large beach

  • No resorts - fewer crowds at sunset

  • Rocky shores that bookend this stretch of beach

  • Palm trees

  • Sun sets over the water

  • Molokini views

  • Security in parking area

  • Usually no wind

While White Rock (Palaluea) Beach has so many benefits to offer, there are a few things to consider before booking your Maui photo session here. These include:

  • Single portable bathroom (no running water/flush toilets)

  • No official parking lot - parking is on either side of the road

  • No foot showers. Clients should bring their own towels and water to clean feet after session.

  • Ocean water can be rough

  • Keawe trees are at the beach's entrance. Their sharp branches can stick to bare feet when they fall. Shoes are recommended when not on the sand.
